Cumberland

I had an opportunity to work with Edgar Allan on a project for Cumberland Sales Company. I completed Lo-fidelity and High-fidelity wireframes for a new webpage to improve their customer and company’s representative’s order experience. I got to colbrate with senior designers to create the wireframes in Figma. Project has launched into the design phase.

Role: UX Designer

Duration: 5 weeks

Tools: Figma

Introduction

The project objective was to start with the user flow created by designers before myself. The client wanted to create a better ordering system. The current system that Cumberland had were for potential customers to look through a 200 page catalog and call Cumberland’s customer service line to order. Once the customer service representative got the customer’s order they would input the order into a spreadsheet. The quote was created and sent back by email. This system was time consuming for both parties. The objective was to turn a spreadsheet into a webpage.

The first step was to review the user flows that were completed prior to me hoping on the project. The user flow guided me to create a catalog landing page first. The goal was to creatively creating a spreadsheet on a webpage. My task was to complete Lo-fidelity and High-fidelity wireframes for an extension of the original marketing page for their customer and company’s representative’s order experience.

First, I conducted a competitive analysis to inquire what other construction companies were using to interactive with their customers. I looked into some companies like Home Depot, E-Rigging, and Construction Supply Group. Based on my research I created quick sketches of the redesign of the project. I planned to create a product page of construction material, a catalog/product landing page, and a cart view for the customer.

Research

Final wireframes

In the final part of the project I created two solutions to the problem. The main part of the project was geared for the customer wanting to buy construction supply from the company.

I created the customer view because of what the client’s requested and the user flow created for me prior to me being apart of the project. Through my design thinking and past experience I created a second solution for the Cumberland company. I created the idea of the representative of the company to be able to interactive with the customer’s request without having to call the customer.
